Dried Hibiscus

One of REFEM’s principal exports, our dried hibiscus is a colourful and fragrant product with wide-ranging health benefits and culinary applications. Known locally as Zobo, hibiscus tea is a natural diuretic that has been used traditionally for weight loss, lowering blood pressure, and improving heart and liver function. The delicious and tart hibiscus infusion, which is enjoyed hot or cold in different parts of the world, is also very high in vitamin C and antioxidants. Dried hibiscus can also be consumed whole with the same effect and is candied or used as dessert garnish in some cultures. REFEM is able to process Dried Hibiscus to all forms of variants of machine cleaned whole flowers, cuts of different sizes and powders.

Nigeria's Finest Product

REFEM sources its dried hibiscus primarily from six states in northern Nigeria — Kano, Katsina, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, and Jigawa.

The North’s Sahel tropical dry climate makes it an ideal location for the sustainable cultivation of hibiscus crops. While the peak season for harvest is from November through March, hibiscus is sold all year-round, and carefully processed and packaged for international shipping.
